R2, R2v3 and e-Stewards recycling in the Netherlands

Specifically for Dutch and European companies with an American parent company, Huiskes in the Netherlands can also meet R2v3 (also known as R2) and e-Stewards certifications for the recycling of electronic (IT) equipment. We are used to the intensive audits that are required to obtain these types of certifications.

What is R2v3 and e-Stewards recycling?

The purpose of the R2v3 standard is to ensure that electronic waste (e-waste) is recycled in a way that protects the environment and public health, while getting the most out of the recovery of valuable and precious materials. As such, it is about sustainable recycling with reuse being the number one priority.
In the standards, the focus is on the development of and compliance with policies for the management of used and discarded electronic equipment, components and materials. The recovery of materials allows them to be reused as much as possible for new products.

What does this mean in actual practice?

In practice, this means that the R2/R2v3 and e-Stewards certifications, in the Netherlands and Europe in particular, that subsidiaries of American companies must comply with these standards. It mainly concerns electronic waste from IT companies where the destruction of data is also important. Huiskes destroys (shreds) the entire data carrier complete with its data according to the R2v3 method.

We and our buyers are also held to high standards in terms of laws and regulations, working conditions and the environment, and much emphasis is placed on key focus materials. Such as: scarce or hazardous raw materials in e-waste and batteries.

Secure data destruction for businesses

Our services and work processes for data destruction are fully designed to ensure that data carriers are in safe hands right up to the point of their destruction. No one can access it anymore. We shred hard drives, electronic data carriers and rejected/obsolete products. Any recyclable materials from these can then be safely reused as raw materials for new products.

You can also be present at Huiskes when your goods are destroyed. Upon request, you can also be provided with an official Certificate Of Destruction. For more information about this, please get in contact with us.
